About the Wild Media Foundation

Who are we?

We’re a group of photographers and visual media specialists who have formed a company just like any other. Well, not quite like any other. The Wild Media Foundation is a company limited by guarantee and we’ve set it up as a social enterprise which means that we get paid for the work we do, but the profits are put aside to further the objectives of the company and we can’t get our hands on them! It’s the law!

What do we do?

You can find the formal version of what we do in our mission statement - that’s the serious bit. But what we really do is put together entertaining visual stuff about nature that is fun and educational. Oh, and we’d like to think we’re pretty good at it!

What are our aims?

We want to bring serious stories about nature into people’s lives. But we want to make them entertaining, easy to understand and fun. We want to make nature cool!

How are we going to do this?

  • By producing stimulating visual media to inform a diverse audience about environmental and conservation issues.
  • By collaborating with scientific and research bodies to bring their work to a wider audience.
  • By funding and supporting young and aspiring conservation photographers and/or communities.

There – that all sounds pretty good eh?

Why are we doing this?

We’re passionate people and believe we have an opportunity to use effective visual imagery to communicate environmental issues to lots of people. We want our products to make people give a damn.

These are a few things we’re not!

  • We’re not a lobby group
  • We’re not trying to save the planet (although that would be nice!)
  • We’re not all about doom and gloom.
  • We’re not pointing a finger of blame at anyone.
  • We’re not scientists although some of our friends are.
  • We’re not politicians so we don’t try to please everyone!
  • We’re not doing this for free but…
  • We’re not making a fortune either!
